Foot Neuropathy Advice

Foot Neuropathy Advice - What has worked for me. How about you? Comment or DM me. If you know of someone who’s dealing with this, please share.

No tomatoes. Period. That goes for salsa, marinara, spaghetti sauce, ketchup… do not eat anything that is tomato-based. Also, avoid nuts except for almonds and maybe a few others. Definitely not peanuts or cashews (two of my favorites).

My gut feeling is that the tomatoes et al. react with the chemo and form an allergic reaction very similar to the hidden reactions to reflux.

Tomatoes/high inflammation foods/reflux cause these reactions to me.

Constant runny nose, persistent cough, point-specific sore throat, constant throat clearing, itching especially at night. And an increase in the stinging sensation in my tongue tip, hands, and feet - to the point it’s hard to walk.

Also, appetite is severely curtailed. You just don’t want food. You are hungry, but just can’t eat. You get half a sandwich down and you don’t want any more. It takes so long to eat a meal that you literally get tired of eating. That’s the reflux which is tied directly to the tomatoes and inflammatory foods. Get those out of your diet and your appetite will increase.

When the stinging in your feet gets to the point that you need instant relief, put your feet in an ice bath for about 5 minutes. Take your feet out and dry them. Then, coat your feet in Volteran (an anti-inflammatory), put socks on, and wear very well cushioned shoes - even around the house.

Bullet Points:

* Before bed - rub Urea 20 (terrible name, good product) over your feet. It helps to get rid of callouses over time. It’s an over-the-counter ointment.

* First get out of bed/about to go for a walk - rub Volteran (over-the-counter anti-inflammatory lotion) on the feet. Rub some in, but leave a good bit on the sore spots. Put on socks and wear very padded shoes like Hoka running shoes.

* Use Udderly Smooth lotion for dry skin on hands and feet. Put on multiple times a day.

* DAO supplement - look up on Chat GPT, Grok… any AI tools. Do your research before taking it. It is a naturally occurring histamine inhibitor. Your body produces it. It is taken up by the stomach and not the liver nor kidneys, so it does not have an effect on chemo/infusion therapy. Take it 15-30 min before a meal. It helps with reflux and the other reactions, like itching, runny nose, coughing, foot neuropathy… The only supplement company I trust is Pure Encapsulations. They have a website, and most pharmacies can order it for you.

This protocol has really worked for me. If your feet are really stinging, then you probably had spicy foods or something with tomatoes in it the day before. The same goes for your appetite.

* If itching becomes a problem, rub in some hydrocortisone cream on the hot spots.

Reflux-

* Pepcid did not work for me. I’ll spare you the details. My GP said I was too far gone for Pepcid and put me on Pantoprazole one time a day. I’m on it till I see him in a few weeks.

* Sleep at least at a 10% angle. I bought 3 really firm pillows to prop up on.

* No tomatoes, nuts, or inflammatory foods. Look up on Chat GPT, Grok … or other AI tools.
